There are people out there who will try to convince you that your dreams are not achievable. Dreams aren’t supposed to be realistic. You must remember however that big dreams require significant sacrifices and compromises. Your sacrifices will be a memory once you accomplish what you set out to do. How big is your dream? What are you willing to compromise on in order to make it come true? Will you listen to those who don’t believe in you? It isn’t their dream in the first place. If you are not making the needed sacrifices in your life, you will be busy dreaming for the rest of your life and not executing neither winning.
Dreams don’t work unless you do. I never expected to get to where I am today without working hard for it. It is crucial to to learn to keep on track, ward of distractions, and develop the proper mindset to stay motivated. But more importantly, you must learn to say no when it’s warranted. If going out all the time is counter productive to your dreams, say no. If spending your money on useless things deflates your vision for the future, say no. You have to learn to be willing to say no.
The first part of my journey to establishing a successful real estate company entailed focusing my time at work. From day one, I set certain milestones for myself. I signed a contract with myself committing the required time, money and effort necessary to achieve each. Yes, in my earlier days I did compromise on everything else in my life other than business, including my family and leisure time. Though, I had the unwavering support of my parents and my wife, who have been by my side from the beginning when I was working on the sales floor at Armani Jeans! I am a true believer that you are wholly effected by those that you surround yourself with. Surround yourself with like minded people as energy is powered by those around you. Optimism is important, and while there is no short cut to maintaining a positive outlook every single day, it is easier to do so when you spend your time with colleagues, friends and family that have a similar outlook to life and work as you do.
